My entire life I have felt like I was too much for the world. Too sensitive. Too unrealistic. Too unwilling to compromise.
This message was reinforced by a lot of people in my life. That I wasn’t practical enough and that I spent too much time reading books instead of living in the “real world” where everyone eventually quietly settled and put their dreams away on the shelf. I was told it was better to go the safe route. To lower my expectations. To leave the happy endings to the fairytales.
I tried my best to listen but one thing about me is that the tiny voice most people hear inside them to guide them to where they want to be isn’t very tiny. It’s loud. Really loud. And it proved impossible to shut up, rip my head from the clouds, and get on with it.
I just couldn’t toughen up. I just couldn’t give up on what I believed in deep down inside me. I just couldn’t stop thinking that if it what I wanted was really impossible, why could I imagine it so vividly inside my head?
At one point I came to a crossroads. Either I could keep trying to shut my soul up and finally grow up like I had always been told, or I could listen to my heart. I could finally answer the calling that was so loud it woke me up some nights. I chose the latter.
So hi there, I’m Jasmine. Turns out keeping my head in the clouds was the best fucking thing that ever happened to me.
I’m so happy you’ve found yourself here. Chances are if you’ve found yourself in my world you have felt this way before too. Alien. Too dreamy. Unable to do it like the rest of the world seems to. You have big dreams for the family you were born into. For the town you’re from. For what the statistics say you’re likely to achieve.
I know. And you are welcomed here. Seen here. Believed in here.
I created Return to Daydreams to share what I’ve always known deep in my heart: Your daydreams are real and they are guiding you. The things you feel like are impossible for you and that you find yourself always imagining when you’re supposed to be doing your job or looking out the car window are the things you were created to do, have and experience.
It is not a mistake that you want the things you do. I believe we were all given unique desires and with those desires unique gifts to fulfill them.
The world seems to to tell us at every turn that we are silly to want outrageous, lavish, magical things. That we have little power over our lives and our circumstances. That once we grow up we should find real jobs that pay well enough that we hate but can tolerate.
Return to Daydreams was created to offer you a different path. One that teaches you how to decide to create the life you didn’t think was possible and how to use the power you had all along to do it.
