When we are going through something tough it can make us feel totally helpless and out of control. Structure and predictability are an important part of most of our daily lives. When we are going through something these are usually the first to go. In the middle of all our fears, worry, and anxiety we can’t sometimes help but think “Does manifestation still work?”
Well I am here to say yes, it does still work.
Even when times are hard and when nothing makes sense. When we feel absolutely terrible. And when our lives are completely falling apart.
There is no one in the sky that turned off the switch to the laws of the universe. That’s why they’re laws. This includes the law of attraction which allows us to manifest.
It is during tough times that our beliefs matter more than ever. No one anticipates disaster but I would say that spiritual people are amongst some of the most prepared for them in the world. We have beliefs and practices to fall back on and utilize when most of the world does not. When you are totally enveloped in the personal development world you can forget that it is actually a small percentage of the population that knows anything about universal laws and how powerful their own mind really is. So I want to list some things to remember when you are going through a tough time personally or you know a global pandemic.
Universal Laws Still Apply So Manifestation Will Always Work
The universe has not suddenly turned its back and abandoned you because you are going through something hard (though it might feel that way). It is steady, constant, and still in working order. Tragedy can often feel like it is stealing our choices but it important that you remember that you always have a choice when it comes to how you feel and how you see your circumstances. You can take comfort in the fact that the universe is neutral. It is always just responding to our beliefs, emotions, and ideas. If you believe that the universe is always conspiring for our good (this is what I believe) then you can trust that whatever you are going through is happening for you instead of to you even when it doesn’t feel that way.
I know this is a lot easier said than done. But that is what faith is. It is easy to have faith and trust when everything is going according to our plan. It is a lot harder when it feels like everything around you is falling apart. This is why we practice but that is when it is the most important to cultivate and hold on to. Your faith may not be perfect, you will probably have many moments of feeling like you are being ridiculous by feeling hopeful but it is important to have it anyway.
It is also important to remember that universal laws don’t have an agenda. All events are neutral until we define them with meaning. We get to decide what things mean for us and what we will get out of them.
Even if it feels like the world has been thrown into complete chaos and there is no clear direction you can take comfort in the fact that the universe is still in working order. And manifestation still works.
You Get to Choose How You See Things. This is The Key to Manifestation.
One of the definitions of alchemy according to Merriam Webster is “An inexplicable or mysterious transmuting”. During some of the worse times in my life I became an expert in alchemy. And what I mean by that is that I learned to turn shit into gold.
Before I learned that I had control over the things that I accepted into my reality, I got a lot of practice in reframing negative events and emotions. One of the biggest misconceptions I run into all the time when it comes to manifesting is that you have to be positive to do it. There is a lot of pressure in the spiritual community to be “high vibe” and to think positively in order to get the things we want. In my experience, this is just not true.
A lot of the times in my life I did not feel positively about myself or what I was doing. Some of my greatest successes, including all the success I had in college, I struggled with my confidence and was sad a lot of the time. During high school I struggled severely with depression. As a result, I didn’t experience a lot of educational success. I spent many summers in summer school. I felt a lot of shame about it, and I graduated feeling like I was stupid.
When I decided to go to college anyway, I was terrified. I didn’t think I was smart enough to be there and I wasn’t sure I was cut out for it. What I was sure of is that I was going to do whatever it took to get out of the small town I grew up in. I knew going away to University was a way to do that. Most of the time I was unsure, scared, and sad but I decided to use those emotions to my advantage and let them fuel me. I decided that those things would not get in the way of my success and so they didn’t.
When I graduated college I did it with two degrees, and cum laude. I never spent a single semester off of the deans list. And most of that time I was very not “high vibe”. This is alchemy. I manifested all that success because I didn’t make my emotions wrong and I didn’t minimize the pain I was in. A lot of my time in college I was in crisis mode. It felt like my life was falling apart a lot. But I let those situations motivate me. And spent a lot of time daydreaming about what life would look like in the future.
You always have a choice in how you choose to see the things that happen to you. I encourage you to try on the belief that I adopted and that changed my life. Everything is happening for your good. That means that anything, no matter how bad it is, is somehow adding up in your favor. You can choose to use every single thing that happens to you for your own benefit.
I made a joke in college that my only real life pursuit was to turn all of my emotional baggage into cold hard cash. It is only the beginning, but I am managing to do just that. Turning shit into gold is an art, but it’s always an option.
Nothing Actually Means Anything
As human beings we are meaning makers. Our brains naturally try to find meaning in the things we experience in order to create patterns of understanding. The brain is designed to make generalizations because generalizations keep us safe. This is something that causes a lot of problems in relationships. As an example, if you have an absent relationship with one of your parents instead of understanding that they left you and it hurt you our brain turns that event into the belief that people leave and it hurts. What was a specific thing you experienced now turns into a generalized belief in order to avoid further pain. If you believe all people will hurt you and leave, you will avoid ever being hurt again like you were with your parent. At least, that’s the logic your brain uses.
The truth is though, nothing means anything unless we make it mean something. If you fail something it doesn’t mean you are not smart. If one of your relationships doesn’t work it doesn’t mean you are bad at love. Things only mean what we decide they mean.
If you are currently going through a tough time (which I am guessing you are if you are reading this) I encourage you not to make this mean something about the rest of your life. No matter what it is, it does not mean it will always be this way. It does not mean you are bad, cursed, not cut out for it, or doomed. This is a singular and specific situation and it does not mean anything about your potential and what you get to have.
Remember You Are Powerful
One of the hardest things during a hard period of our lives is that we often feel so powerless. It feels like the bad thing is so big and we are so small. I want to let you know that it’s okay to feel that way but also that it is time to remember you are big. And powerful. So much bigger and so much more powerful than your situation.
The beautiful thing about the law of attraction is that we are in control of the reality we create for ourselves and nothing can take that sovereignty. You are in charge of your life even when it doesn’t feel like it. That doesn’t things will never be hard, and you will never feel bad, it just means you get to decide where to go from there. You get to decide what those things mean and if they are ultimately adding up in your favor.
So to answer your question, yes, manifestation works during a crisis. It works during hard times. It works when all logic and reason says it shouldn’t. My own life is proof of this.
I created the Magnetic Manifestor workbook to help you get clear and confident about what you want out of your life.
One of the biggest mistakes we can make with manifestation is forgetting to decide who we are. What we get to have. And how things work for us. Almost every time I found myself in the middle of a hard time it was related to giving away my power. And not being clear on what I wanted and expected out of a situation.
The Magnetic Manifestor Journal is designed to help you get clear on what you want, start manifesting intentionally, and seeing results with manifestation.
You always had the power to create the beautiful life you desire. You just need to learn to use that power intentionally and that starts with getting clear on what you want.
Grab the Magnetic Manifestation Journal here to start getting clear on what you desire, and start seeing real, tangible results in your daily life.
You always had the power, now it’s time to use it.
Remember no matter how you feel right now the universe has not abandoned you. You are not doing this alone. No one has turned off the universal laws in the sky. You can still manifest anything you desire.
Until next time!
